The theater project will be a dynamic 30-hour per week internship opportunity for 25 youth ages 16 to 25 to actualize their talents and market their product.  The production will be a high visibility community service project that will be performed at area schools and various community venues.

The use of traditional African and Native American Rites of Passage techniques will create a sense of belonging and fostering understanding and respect between youth and their elders.  We are convinced that our approaches to learning when applied will increase academic success by utilizing writing skills, oral communication and language.

By the end of the project, the participants will have created an original theater production, developed theater skills, learned songs in different languages and experienced contemporary and traditional dance techniques.  Participants will be involved in the coordination of every aspect of the production process.  This original production will be performed and marketed in their community.
