El Kuumba (Elwood Farmer), native of Baltimore, Maryland, is a self- conceived visual artist whose art is influenced by his sense of culture and history.  For the last 25 years, he has been a dedicated struggler against oppression.  He is a committed father of ten.   El Kuumba believes that words are not spiritually adequate enough to articulate the subtle meanings of life and that art is a medium to express those unspoken feelings.
